TFA/UAGF EVENT ROCKS HOLLYWOOD

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SUPPORTED THE FIGHTERS

June 27, 2010

Todd Meacham Promotions brought its signature style event to The Music Box on Hollywood Blvd. Saturday, June 26, 2010. The venue was intimate, everyone had a great view of the unpredictable action, and sixteen fighters brought their best to the TFA cage.

Main Event: Jens Grau vs Mosses Murrietta

The main event featuring heavyweights Jens Grau versus Mosses Murrietta ended quickly. Murrietta used his significant reach and height advantage to strike Grau with clean straight blows. Murrietta knocked Grau to the mat and pounced into side control. A few strikes later and a TKO was declared. "I'm just going fight by fight," said Murrietta after the victory. "I'm ready for anyone."

Fight 1: German Baltazar vs Alonzo Campos

Baltazar tactically overwhelmed Campos with choke submission attempts. Campos fought hard to get out of a guillotine hold only to fall immediately into a triangle choke that ended the match in the first round.

Fight 2: Cody Peck vs James Distler

A raucous fight including a big slam that resulted in Distler taking control with a mount and finishing Peck with a rear naked choke.

Fight 3: Keith Carson vs Craig Cook

Cook controlled Carson on the ground and easily won round one. Carson battled back with fast strikes then got Cook's back and began to pound away. With seconds to go in round 2, the referee deducted a point from Carson for strikes to the back of the head. Carson won round three with a continuous flurry of strikes but due to the point deduction- the fight judged a draw. " Thanks to TFA," said Carson. "I'll be back."

Fight 4: John Murphy vs. Bradlee Crihfield

Murphy went for a choke that brought the fight to the ground. Crihfield reversed the position and took Murphy's back. Crihfield pounded him until he got the choke causing Murphy to tap.

Fight 5: Mose Aieti vs Erick Hinckley

This was the most exciting match of the night. Hinckley grabbed hold of Aieti and controlled him all of round one. In round two, Aieti struck fast with straight punches that rocked Hinckley. Hinckley fought hard but Aieti landed a knock out strike that ended the fight. Referring to Hinckley's tactics in the first round, Aieti said- "he's a strong dude." As for the finish of the fight- Aieti stated, "with these hands anything can happen."

Fight 6: Ryan Barela vs. Louis Reyes

Fast paced and action packed- Barela and Reyes used every facet of mma. Take downs, strikes, kicks, and submission attempts were relentless in a fight where Barela won a unanimous decision. Even with the win Barela saw lots to improve- "I gotta close the distance and finish." As for the event Barela stated, "This was a fun show to be in with the fans close. CAMO is the coolest organization that really looks out for the fighters."

Fight 7: Mariano Fajardo vs Brandon Anderson

Anderson quickly worked to a mount and pounded Fajardo out for a TKO.

All in all the event proved that the amateur circuit in California can bring the same action as the pro events. Thank you to all the fans who came out to support these up and coming fighters as they build their mma careers.

Come back soon for images and video of the fights.

THE HANGAR ROCKS AGAIN AT TFA 17

Rocky “the Bull” Bice acknowledges a rafter shaking roar of TFA fight fans after his first round TKO over Michael “Meiko” Morrow. A rematch is rumored.

Todd Meacham Promotions’ Total Fighting Alliance roared back into HAX near the Hawthorne Airport for season opener- TFA 17 “Fight For Your Right.”

To open the evening, a well matched 165 lbs. fight between Joey Guevera from ASG and Justin Rodriquez of West Coast Jujitsu went the distance in a split decision in favor of Guevara.

In the second bout Brian Jiminez, described by Meacham as “a true warrior” out of Tracy Hess’ Subfighter camp took the fight at short notice against another well prepared ASG fighter, 160 lbs. Jason Gonzalez, who stunned him with a head kick before closing into a standing clinch, followed by a flurry of knees to end the bout just 32 seconds into the first round.

The third bout featured Team Quest’s hugely popular Craig Cook at 145, against Juan Estrada representing West Coast Jujitsu who succumbed to Cook’s relentless ground and pound at 1:53 of the first round in a TKO.

Tracy Hess Subfighter James Distler took on Edward Chevez , both well versed in Jujitsu, rolled to a split decision in the fourth fight of the night.

In the fifth bout, Subfighter Bradlee Crihfield started punching, quickly went to the mat with Ryan Escobedo of the Submission Factory, then popped up for a few more punches, before going down again for a rear naked choke submission at 1:48 of the first round. “I got caught” said 170 lbs. Escobar during his post fight interview with five time world MMA Champion Maverick Harvey.

In the night’s best fight, the clash of the titans, heavyweights Kipeni Lutu, managed by Damien Stibbie, and Submission Factory’s Jesse Escobedo went toe to toe in crowd pleasing slugfest that went on for three rounds before the referee awarded Escobedo a TKO.

At 160 lbs., South Bay favorite Shane Watts was delivering a jaw breaking beating to Brandon Anderson from Pro AM MMA until a stunning reversal of fortune in the final round when Watts was forced to submit by a guillotine choke.

The most interesting fight of the night featured Tracy Hess in the corner for Hydraulx Filmz Executive Producer turned MMA fighter, Rocky “the Bull” Bice, whose charge across the cage into 190 lbs. Michael “Meiko” Morrow for a first round TKO had all the frantic energy of a whole herd of enraged, stampeding bulls. Bice is a force of nature; like a hurricane or a tornad, raging inside a nine sided cage. Morrow, who “slipped” to the canvas during an unrelenting barrage of punches from “pumped up” Bice, demanded a rematch; which was immediately accepted and announced live from the cage by Todd Meacham, TFA’s CEO and Matchmaker.

The final bout of the night saw MMA’s scariest fighter, Danish Environment’s Jens Grau, fighting out of Elite MMA, who assaulted West Coast Jujitsu’s 230 lbs. Danny Radovcic like a “berserker”, one of his ancient Viking ancestors, using his fists like a pair of battle axes to pound his opponent into a first round TKO.

A great time was had by all, which included both young and old MMA fans from every walk of life, and all races, creeds, and colors. The presence of Ibrahim Karas’ 30 man contingent of elite United Nationwide Security officers insured the safety of TFA’s fans, friends, and families which included Torrance C.P.A. Ken Teshima of Teshima and Associates, who was glad to get out to the bouts after the just ended tax rush, Biker Leo Smith from Gardena, Woodland Hills Estate and Probate Attorney Pierre Rodnunsky, and Orange County Furniture Mover Todd Brudos, all of whom shared in the thrills and excitement of TFA’s first 2010 show.

RJ Clifford of TapouT Magazine, MMA Worldwide Magazine and ESPN 710AM Radio was also spotted in crowd, fueling speculation about the plucky pro fighter coming out of the booth and into the Nonagon at TFA 18 “Walk the Walk” in June.
